Ethnicity and state power in Pakistan: the Karachi crisis
Article Abstract:
Continued alienation of the Mohajirs and persistent demand of the Mohajir Quami Movement for separation of the urban Sindh from Pakistan poses serious threat to its economy and government. Widespread killings, deterioration of law and order, and human rights violations in Karachi has put international pressure on Pakistan's government. Actions to resolve the issues failed because of apprehensions on both sides. If conflict continues to be unresolved peacefully, state power will keep on degenerating.
