'I must be doing something right'
Article Abstract:
The book 'With His Pistol in his Hand' by Paredes was first published in 1958 and one of the Rangers had stormed into the offices of the Press to register his displeasure in the accustomed manner of the time and station in Texas where the author commented 'I must be doing something right.' Paredes contributed strongly in establishing models of mestizo culture that enabled to think the way beyond the westering move of civilization.

Gender shifts in contemporary legend
Article Abstract:
Contemporary legends, in addition to highlighting a culture's particular current fears, anxieties, or concerns, also provide glimpses of a wider range of attitudes and assumptions within the culture. Those involving sexual activity demonstrate various forms of gender shift, which may present itself in one basic legend taking different forms simultaneously depending on the gender of the protagonist.
