L'annee theatrale 1995

Article Abstract:

French theater experienced changes in federal financial aid during the year 1995. Most theaters had to be content with less but the Comedie Francaise, the Theatre de Chaillot, the Theatre de la Colline and the Odeon received 6% more. The Minister of Culture did study ways to help modern authors and to create a national theater. During 1995, 14% of the French went to the theater, while 49% went to the movies and 28% to a sporting event. Successful attempts to bring the theater to parts of France which do not benefit from such a cultural opportunity also marked 1995. The text of the article is in French.
