New Caledonia, a case of shared sovereignty within the French Republic: appearance or reality?

The article examines the shared sovereignty scheme expressed in the 1998 Noumea Accord signed between France and New Caledonia. It reviews the elements of New Caledonia's status that create an appearance of shared sovereignty within the French Republic as well as the reality of that status.
