Rhetoric versus reality for the women of North Korea: Mothers of the revolution
Article Abstract:
Women of North Korea have become active players in emerging market processes centered on local markets, which has created new opportunities for them and new challenges for those who seek to protect traditional gender role expectations, including the state. This spread of capitalist relations and changes in the social position of women in the long run is likely to affect social relations and potentially the legitimacy of the regime.

Real reform in North Korea?
Article Abstract:
The basis for and consequences of North Korea's July 2002 economic reforms, which were intended to improve economic situation, is analyzed. The reforms are studied with reference to three related trends that were noticed in the reform's repercussions, monetization, decentralization and foreign capital acquisition.
