Sex in the Inner City: The fidelity between sex and politics in Siam
Article Abstract:
The nature of the relationship between political culture and the sexuality of monarchs in Siam from the mid-nineteenth to the early twentieth centuries is examined in a study. It offers historical evidence of female same-sex erotic relations and their prohibition in the history of Siam and also reveals the importance of social status to the gender and sexual regime operative in nineteenth-century Siam.

The quest for "siwilai": a geographical discourse of civilizational thinking in the late nineteenth and early twentieth-century Siam
Article Abstract:
Issues are presented concerning the meaning of the term "siwilai", substitutes which have been made for its use and the politics surrounding its meaning. The role played by Siam in the world order of the 19th Century is discussed.
