War photographer Robert Capa is considered a legacy in the field of photography. His photos depict the political, social and personal struggles people of his time encountered. In restrospect, the Philadelphia Art Museum will be exhibiting his photos this October up to January 4, 1998.

Claudia Gould was appointed director of the Institute of Contemporary Arts, West Philadelphia, in September 1999 and her aim is to improve its status. Relations with the University of Pennsylvania on whose campus it stands are poor, but Gould has the connections to revive the ICA.

A brief account of the life and work of painter Alice Neel is presented. A a commentary of some of her key pieces of work is provided from the curator of the Philadelphia Museum of Art, where an exhibition of Neel's work opened in February 2001.
