State and civil society in South Korea's democratic consolidation: is the battle really over?
Article Abstract:
State-civil society relations in South Korea during the Roh Tae Woo administration and the Kim Young Sam administration continue to experience conflicts despite democratic consolidation. This may be attributed to the diversity of the elements that compose the civil society. Moderate and radical civil society groups have remained vigilant in the discussion of various political issues.

The co-evolution of the Internet and civil society in China
Article Abstract:
Internet technology and civil society mutually affect each other in China's movement toward widespread social change. The Internet offers new possibilities for citizen participation, while civil society provides the social basis for interaction and communication through the Internet.

China and Taiwan are highly economically interdependent on each other, but there are vast differences in their political and cultural arena. This identity crisis has made their policies less amenable towards each other.
