Article Abstract:

Thailand's political scene that marked a return to parliamentary rule in 2007 is discussed. The new regime along with installing democratic structures were also preventing the return of the popular government of former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra, thus shaping the politics and economics of Thailand's new democratic structure.

Thailand in 2006: Retreat to military rule

Article Abstract:

The year 2006 for Thailand began with a huge victory for the prime minister, but by the end of the year the prime minister was pushed into exile and the military had taken over. This was a huge setback for democracy and for all major political institutions.
