The fire down below
Article Abstract:
Roger Archibald is one of the less than 400 smokejumpers in the US. During the summer season of forest fires, Archibald puts on a jumpsuit and parachutes close to the fire, which he tries to put out using a combined hoe and ax tool called a pulaski.

Sinkler has been editor of the review section since 1979. The 56-year-old worked her way up from a secretarial position. She is admired by many but has had confrontations with Norman Mailer, Rush Limbaugh and others about her editing.
