The role of the Christian church in socio-economic and political development in Kenya
Article Abstract:
The Christian Church in Kenya is increasingly becoming involved in nation-building and economic and social development. A general review of the role of the Church in preparing Kenya and Kenyans for the new century is examined. It is led the struggle for national transformation since the mid-1980s, as a result of which Kenya finally dropped the one-party dictatorship and reintroduced multi party politics. The Church must continue to help the pro-democracy movement however, so that a proper transition is achieved.

The struggle for faculty unionism in a stalled democracy: lessons from Kenya's public universities
Article Abstract:
The refusal of Kenya's ruling party to register the Universities Academic Staff Union (UASU) was indicative of its aversion to any attempt by the academic community at progressive reform. Hence, the move signalled the demise of the struggle for democracy since it eroded the foundation of intellectual freedom. Faculty unionism, to be successful, should coincide with a democratization of the political system.
