Women warriors and Amazons of the mid Qing texts Jinghua yuan and Honglou meng
Article Abstract:
Chinese culture is full of the brave deeds of exceptional women who went to war or were a part of the hunt. Applying the particular cases of two mid Qing texts, 'Honglou meng' and 'Jinghua yuan,' the complex issue of the female warriors in the Chinese culture and the multifarious role that they played has been analyzed. The understanding of the dilemmas embedded in recurrence of women warriors and Amazonian sisters is imperative in analyzing the complex systems of sexual ideology in mid Qing Chinese culture.

The Qing Empire used its military muscle for the first time against a neighbor that did not constitute a serious threat to the empire, was in the Qing Myanmar campaign. Some critical records of the Myanmar war were deliberately made unavailable, while some untruthful statements were produced and left in archives.
