A big year up at the White House

Article Abstract:

Most ordinary Americans have now become disillusioned by politics, and are likely to show only limited interest in political developments in the run-up to the presidential election in Nov 1996. It is now likely that Bob Dole will be in a direct battle with president Bill Clinton, and this will also reduce public interest, as Dole lacks charm and Clinton lacks weight. The country continues to be ruled by wealthy senators, while ordinary people are finding it increasingly difficult to maintain their standard of living.

The heart to grieve for all America's Billy Baileys

Article Abstract:

Briton Anne Coleman, who has lived in the US since the 1940s, continues to campaign strongly against capital punishment. She admits that murder is a terrible crime, and has even suffered the murder of one of her own children. Despite this, she feels that convicted murderers should not be executed. She highlights the case of double murderer Billy Bailey, who is to be executed shortly. He suffered terribly in his childhood, and was never shown any real love, so should not be held responsible for his actions.
