A call to save Sarajevo
Article Abstract:
Some United Nations officers and soldiers think two more battalions would secure the Mostar road to Sarajevo, Bosnia-Herzegovina, but the West cannot approve an operation involving shooting. UN convoys of aid travel a winding route, which means insufficient goods get through. Just 38% of 32,000 tons of food for central Bosnia arrived in Jul 1993. Fighting between Muslim and Croatian forces keeps the road blocked. About 1,800 troops could secure the 14 tunnels, the Bijela bridge, Mostar and Jablanica.

Do they remember?
Article Abstract:
Fierce nationalism and right-wing extremism have been gaining increasing support in a number of European Union countries over recent years, and this should now be regarded as a cause for concern. In France, for example, the National Front gained 15% of the vote in the first round of the 1995 presidential election, while in National Alliance has been making progress in Italy. Most recently, the Freedom Party gained 27.6% of the vote in elections to the European Parliament in Austria.
