All aboard the Mandelson Express

Article Abstract:

It is possible to reach the Millennium Dome under construction in Greenwich, London, England, on bus No 108. This route crosses the Greenwich meridian twice, connecting both sides of the Thames and ferries workers to the Dome. It passes through Lewisham, Blackheath and East Greenwich, and travels through the Blackwall Tunnel. Both ends of the route are close to rail stations, while the nearest airport is London City, linked to Stratford by bus and train.

From Carlisle to Inverness by bicycle. Well, nearly

Article Abstract:

Sustrans, the UK transport charity, has created the Carlisle-Inverness 402 mile long route for cyclists as part of the National Cycle Network. The network tries to ensure that cyclists have their own track without the worry of cars. The route can be covered in six days, but some of the stretches are difficult. A train can be taken to avoid some of the cycling. There is some wonderful scenery on the route.

A to B without the A to Z

Article Abstract:

Cycling on the streets of central London can be very dangerous, and cyclists would benefit from cycling along the banks of the Grand Union Canal instead. The surface of the canalside paths can sometimes be uneven and muddy, but it is still better than the surface of many of London's main roads. Cyclists can enjoy very attractive scenery and can keep well away from traffic.
