Ambassador for the world's end
Article Abstract:
The Warden of Green College, Oxford, England, after a diplomatic career, Sir Crispin Tickell aims to bridge the gap between policy-making and science with research. The Sainsbury Trust has made a two-year grant of 200,000 pounds sterling to launch a Green College environmental think-tank. The destruction of the American rain forest, climate change and the extinction of species are the first scientific propositions to be presented to politicans in a form that can be acted upon.

The grass grows greener on a timber teepee
Article Abstract:
The Bishops Wood environmental centre, situated near Stourport, UK, is based on an unusual conical wooden structure. The building itself provides a lot of the nature which is studied at the centre, and has grass growing off its roof. It uses shredded newspapers and telephone directories as insulation, and many green technologies have been integrated into a working building. The centre offers many different courses, and is now visited by 10,000 children a year.
