Any more takers for digital TV?

Article Abstract:

Established terrestrial broadcasters in the UK seem to have no plans to take advantage of the opportunities offered by the development of digital technology. It seems likely that the digital revolution will be dominated by BSkyB and by News Corporation, BSkyB's leading shareholder which also controls the encryption system required for digital broadcasting. Around 30 channels of digital capacity will be available to terrestrial broadcasters for over-the-air transmission, but they have little idea yet about how they will use this additional capacity.

The best kept secrets in newspapers

Article Abstract:

It is very strange that developments in the private life of Rupert Murdoch, who has divorced his wife of more than 30 years and is now engaged to an employee from China in her 30s, have not attracted extensive media coverage. It seems that there is self-censorship in the newspaper industry, which seeks extensive details of the private lives of others but likes to keep the affairs of its own leading figures private. There is an informal network among newspaper proprietors which prevents them revealing details about their private lives.
