Big themes, bigger pictures

Article Abstract:

The opening show at the Milton Keynes Gallery in Milton Keynes, England, is devoted to a new body of work by artists Gilbert and George, who are based in London, England. Their Rudimentary Pictures are montages of black-and-white photo imagery. These are strongly colourized and are arranged symmetrically and diagrammatically. The Whitechapel Gallery in London, England, is staging a retrospective of Italian artist Alighiero Boetti. There is no consistent subject in his art, and its making is more attractive than the work itself.

Lots to look at, nothing to see

Article Abstract:

The Tate Gallery in London, England, is currently staging an exhibition entitled 'Abracadabra: International Contemporary Art.' This exhibition contains the work of 15 artists who are mainly in their 30s. Most of them are relatively unknown. Almost all the moveable walls have been removed from the gallery's special exhibition area, forming a single, extremely large room. The exhibits are displayed in an apparently random way. Exhibits include a life-size model of a Japanese businessman by Momoyo Torimitsu.
