Breathing new life into old offices

Article Abstract:

The UK inner cities minister John Redwood aims to increase the sale of cheap land to provide low-cost housing. There are hundreds of city sites all over the UK which are derelict, covered with warehouses or factories which will remain unoccupied for years. Only 25% of the 1,700 planned developments in central London will be built within the next 20 years. Their financial value lie as poster and car parking sites. One developer wants to convert his offices near London Bridge to 800 bedrooms for students from Guy's Hospital. He faces opposition from Southwark Council who prefer office developments.
