Article Abstract:
Tarmac, the largest housebuilder and quarry group in the UK, has enjoyed a dramatic recovery under chief executive Neville Simms. He has now become one of the most respected figures in the UK construction industry. He continues to support the free enterprise culture promoted by the Conservative government, although the Conservatives' emphasis on home ownership was one of the key factors in the company's near-collapse in 1992.
