Correction is some way off

Article Abstract:

It is certainly true that the stock market is overvalued, but this does not necessarily mean that the dramatic collapse in share prices which took place in Oct 1987 will be repeated. The yield ratio remains within its historical trading range, and there has not yet been any significant rise in long-term interest rates. Against this background, it is unlikely that there will be any significant market correction. It is also worth remembering that the 1987 crash had only a limited long-term impact on investors.

We're not out of the woods yet

Article Abstract:

Mixed views are being expressed about whether the world financial crisis which emerged in Aug 1998 is now coming to an end. Some observers feel that the stock market is still seriously overvalued and that the next phase of the bear market will be sparked off by a sharp decline in company profits. They point out that the UK economy has been expanding above trend for some time and that the next trend will be a sharp decline. It certainly seems premature to claim that the financial crisis is over.
