Creativity can bring significant financial rewards, according to a 'Rich List' of the UK's broadcasters published in Broadcast magazine. The richest media operator is Classic FM Chmn Sir Peter Michael, followed by Sir Ray Tindle, who owns a newspaper group worth around 120 million pounds sterling.

Article Abstract:

Recent controversy surrounding Football Association Chief Executive Graham Kelly, who has now resigned, highlights problems with inadequate management structures at the Football Association. Developments there can be compared with the situation faced by Mary Allen when she became Royal Opera House Chief Executive. Here, there were serious financial difficulties and a lack of overall control. A similar situation existed at the BBC before a much stricter management style was introduced, especially by Michael Checkland and John Birt.
