Cry 'God for England and St George.' (backbenchers views on voting for the Maastricht treaty for European union)(includes related article with the views of MPs Teresa Gorman, Nicholas Budgen, Sir Teddy Taylor and Bernard Jenkin)
Article Abstract:
The Government is trying to rally support for the Treaty on European Union and stressing the need for loyalty to the party. A group of backbenchers are irreconciled to the treaty for various reasons. Some are free-marketeers and some are nationalists. The Fresh Start group which has 96 members was formed on Jun 02, 1992, the day of the Danish referendum. Some would be happy with a referendum but others insist on retraction. The rebels have proposed many of the 400 amendments to the treaty.

An inspiring, teeming mass of humanity
Article Abstract:
The city of Bombay, India, can be confusing for someone visiting for the first time. Officials can be over-zealous, and there are no clear directions for visitors. However, the ordinary people are friendly and polite, and the city is very safe. The city has 13 million inhabitants, many of whom live in very poor conditions. This can be alarming to western visitors, but they also realise that people have great self-respect and that human life is highly valued.
