Did the earth move for you?

Article Abstract:

The Dynamic Earth tourist attraction and theme park inside the William Younger Centre, a convention centre in Edinburgh, Scotland, was designed by architect Michael Hopkins. The key feature of this building is its enormous tented roof, which is coated with Teflon. The building, which will open at the end of Jul 1999, has been constructed on the site of a former brewery donated by Scottish & Newcastle breweries. It is expected that the building will attract many visitors to Edinburgh.

The Vulcan has landed

Article Abstract:

Architect Terry Farrell designed the new national Dean Gallery in Edinburgh, Scotland, within an old stone building that was once an orphanage. The gallery is built up around 'Vulcan,' a 15-ft sculpture by Sir Eduardo Paolozzi. Other exhibits include Conroy Maddox's 1940 work 'Cloak of Secrecy.' The original building was designed by Thomas Hamilton, who died in 1858, and the restoration is sympathetic to his vision.
