Election helps to spur 'docile' disabled into action

Article Abstract:

The charity Action on Disability and Development has played a key role in encouraging disabled people to become more involved in Zambian politics. Disabled people will form a team of monitors at polling stations for the elections on Dec 27, 2001, and efforts are being made to make polling stations more accessible for disabled voters.

Helping to realise dreams for the forgotten children

Article Abstract:

The charity Action on Disability and Development is supporting the education of disabled children in Burkina Faso, where only 7% of disabled children receive any form of education. Efforts are being made to encourage society as a whole to look positively at the education of disabled children.

Changing blindness from curse to disability

Article Abstract:

The UK charity Action on Disability and Development has helped eight blind beggars in Soroti, Uganda, to establish their own farming community. These people are now self-sufficient and able to help other blind people who would otherwise have been rejected by their communities.
