Evacuation of 'dumped' refugees

Article Abstract:

There has been considerable tension in Dover, England, between local residents and asylum-seekers. This has prompted the government to draw up plans to evacuate large numbers of asylum-seekers from the town to cities in the North of England such as Liverpool and Manchester. It is believed that up to 5,000 asylum-seekers are currently living on the south coast of Kent, England, with numbers constantly rising. The government now recognizes that more extensive dispersal of asylum-seekers is required.

France's apple growers shaken to the core by supermarket ban

Article Abstract:

Many French fruit producers are being very negatively affected by the conflict arising from the French decision not to lift the ban on imports of beef from the UK. Some UK supermarkets have decided not to purchase French fruit, and this has forced many producers to lay off a large proportion of their workforce. The boycott has been greeted with dismay by French fruit growers and the communities in which they operate.
