A thoroughly modern mistress

Article Abstract:

Mary Ellen Synon was for some time the mistress of Rupert Pennant-Rea, who worked with her in journalism and then became deputy governor of the Bank of England. She was very ambitious, and was determined that they would marry, even though he seemed reluctant to leave his third wife and cause upheaval in his life again. He broke off the affair, and she has now taken revenge by revealing their story to the media, forcing him to resign from the Bank of England.

Lindi and her excellent slaves
