Extradition demand 'bolstering Gaddafi.' (Libyan Leader Colonel Muammar Gaddafi)

Article Abstract:

Libyan Leader Colonel Muammar Gaddafi has become more powerful following demands from the UK and the US to extradite the 2 Libyans suspected of the Lockerbie bombing. Libyans are convinced that the West is using the Lockerbie disaster as an excuse to conduct an aggressive policy against Libya. They believe that the West has designs on Libya's oil. Libya has a traditional society where clans retain overall power over certain areas. The government has enough oil reserves to maintain the country and pacify such leaders. UN sanctions could be ineffective because of Libya's extensive border.

Chechnya refugees tell horrific tale of unrelenting bombardment by Russians

Article Abstract:

Refugees fleeing from Chechnya, Russia, into Ingushetia, Russia, report that there has been extensive Russian air and artillery bombardment of towns and villages, irrespective of whether the Russian advance is being resisted. They state that they were encouraged to use dangerous roads by Russian promises of a safe passage out of Chechnya, and then left to wait at the border. Roads and bridges are being systematically destroyed, making it hard for many Chechens to escape.
