Financial advice does not have to be painful - do your research

Article Abstract:

Many Britons are uneasy about using the services of a financial adviser, fearing that they will be put under pressure to buy products they do not understand and do not want. However, it is very important to ensure that your finances are in order, and an in-depth financial review can be a very useful part of this process. When using a financial adviser, you should make an effort to participate actively, rather than simply accepting the advice given without question. It is vital to ask questions and to request time to consider the advice offered if necessary.

Wising up today's teenagers

Article Abstract:

The UK's Personal Finance Education Group (PFEG), created at the end of 1996, aims to boost knowledge of financial matters among young people. In this way, they will be in a better position to make decisions about their personal finances and long-term security. Research undertaken by PFEG indicates that teachers are generally not very confident about introducing pupils to personal finance, even though they regard personal finance education as important. Teachers are under great time pressure, and are unlikely to welcome any additional responsibilities.
