Article Abstract:
UK technology concern CallNet has promised completely free Internet access, with no phone charges, monthly subscription fees or set-up costs. It has 145,000 registered users at present, and aims to have a further 200,000 by Christmas 1999. For its new venture, CallNet 0800, it has linked with North American Gateway, part of Canadian concern Highpoint Telecommunications, Haymarket Publishing and Phones4U, a mobile phone vendor. Wanted: new faces to play the same old songs
Article Abstract:
The commercial radio sector in the UK has expanded rapidly over recent years, but the choice for listeners does not seem to have developed much, and standards are still mixed. There are often few differences between local radio stations, and many observers believe that radio has become very bland. DJs are no longer expected to talk very much, and rarely have any control over the musich which is broadcast.
