New housing projects may help boost UK's furniture and home appliances sectors. It is the consumer electronics industry which pins its hopes heavily on the immediate future, not only with the expected recovery of Asian economies, but also with the introduction of new digital transmission technology. It is expected that as much as 50% of all British households will own a digital TV receiver by 2003 and the entire British population will have access to digital TV services by 2007.
