Germany's journey to health

Article Abstract:

Older Germans tend to still make excuses about the evils of the Nazi era, claiming that ordinary people were not aware of what was going on. Younger Germans, however, fully acknowledge that terrible crimes were committed under Nazism, and find it hard to believe that ordinary people could have allowed such a situation to develop. Germany has now been transformed into a strong, successful nation, and this may serve as a positive role model to other countries, such as Russia, where there is an urgent need for a responsible democracy.

Something rotten in the powerhouse

Industry leaders are now warning that Germany must try to avoid the problems which corruption has caused in other countries. Concerns about corruption come at a time when the economy also seems to be experiencing difficulties.

Berlin's public battle scars

Article Abstract:

There are still a number of buildings in Berlin, Germany, which have strong links with the Nazi state. In some cases, these links are common knowledge, while in other cases they have been almost completely obliterated. Some buildings have been buried under newer ones, while others stand as memorials.
