Article Abstract:
Art collector Sir Denis Mahon, whose collection is estimated to be worth 25 million pounds sterling, has promised to leave 79 works to the nation on his death. However, he will only do so in return for a promise that none of the galleries or museums which receive these works will sell off any work from a public collection at any time in the future. If this happens, then most of the Mahon collection will be put into the care of the National Art Collections Fund. Mahon hopes in this way to make public his concern about the government's moves to dispose of national works of art.

The secret of a facelift: can you see the join
Article Abstract:
The National Theatre, London, ought to consider letting Sir Denys Lasdun design an extension. Lasdun, aged 82, still has a young mind, and an example of his skill is shown by the Royal College of Physicians, Regent's Park, London, which was finished in 1964. In an address to the Royal Insitute of British Architects in 1965, Lasdun spoke of the building being flexible and allowing for changes and extensions. This has proved to be true, as ithe bulding has been extended, without it being obvious externally.
