God wills them to win

Article Abstract:

New Zealand rugby union player Jonah Lomu is one of a growing number of sporting stars who have a strong Christian faith. Becoming a top player in any sport usually requires a ruthless approach which is not associated with Christian belief, and Christians in sport have to reconcile commercial and competitive pressures with their faith. In general, people who spread the Christian message through playing sport have the support of ordinary church-goers.

The haunting tale of paradise lost

Article Abstract:

Remote Easter Island has only 3,000 inhabitants. Its empty, volcanic landscape is very attractive. It is particularly well known for its stone statues, known as Moai. Some of these have been re-erected, while others remain where they have fallen, a stark reminder of the island's violent past. Local people are aware that they rely heavily on tourism, but they wish to ensure that tourism does not have a negative impact on the island's heritage.
