Having a One2One with the market

Article Abstract:

It is likely that One2One, the fourth-largest mobile phone operator in the UK, will be valued at between 8 billion pounds sterling and 11 billion pounds sterling in a stock market flotation planned to take place before the end of 1999. The other alternative for the company would be a sale to another company. Potential purchasers would include Mannessmann Telekom, France Telecom and Bell Atlantic. One2One's managers would almost certainly prefer a flotation, and analysts believe that this is the more likely option.

Ionica crisis mounts as breach in banking covenants looms

Article Abstract:

Cellular telephone operator Ionica seems unlikely to gain 195,000 residential telephone customers and be able to offer a service to 3.8 million homes by the end of 1998, the conditions set down in a 300 million pounds sterling loan agreement signed in Jun 1997. At present, it has only 31,000 subscribers and offers services to 1.65 million households. The value of the company's shares has declined dramatically, and its market value has fallen by almost 500 million pounds sterling.

Few windfalls ahead in period of consolidation

Article Abstract:

There are likely to be a number of very significant developments in industry in 1997. These will include further consolidation in the telecommunications industry and more mergers among European defence and aerospace companies. In the UK, developments in industry will be determined by whether a new government comes to power or not. If the Labour party does win the general election, then the most significant industrial issue will be the privatised utilities.
