Hillary Brooke was an actress who gave strong performances in 'The Enchanted Cottage' and 'Jane Eyre', and is well known among enthusiasts of B movies. Her real name was Beatrice Peterson and she began acting in England, in the theater, though she was from New York. This affected her accent, which became clipped. She worked with comics such as Abbott and Costello and was in the TV series 'My Little Margie' in the 1950s. She retired in 1957 following the movie 'Spoilers of the Forest.'
