How protest turned into destruction
Article Abstract:
An anti-capitalism demonstration in the City of London, England, was accompanied by considerable violence. The demonstration was intended to be a small protest against the impact of multinational financiers on Third World debt, but attracted protestors with a range of other grievances. There were running battles with the police in the streets, and several demonstrators and police officers were injured. Attacks were made on institutions regarded by the protestors as morally and politically incorrect.

Mayhem at midsummer's dawn as travellers storm Stonehenge fence
Article Abstract:
Police in riot gear arrested 23 people as large numbers of New Age travellers broke through the fence surrounding the sacred stone circle at Stonehenge. This incident has led to the withdrawal of permission granted to hundreds of people to visit Stonehenge for the summer solstice. English Heritage believes that every possible step must be taken to avoid further conflict of this kind, which would endanger both the stones and visitors.
