'I now pronounce you ... divorced.' (some Anglican clergy offer special church service for divorcing couples)
Article Abstract:
Some clergy in the Church of England believe that they should offer a special church service for couples who are divorcing. In many cases, these people feel a great deal of guilt and shame, and a simple ceremony can help them to come to terms with their emotions. The Church of England General Synod has rejected a request for an approved form of words for such a ceremony, believing that this goes against the Church's firm belief in the permanence of marriage.

Divorced, separated - and crowned
Article Abstract:
Previous British monarchs have reigned despite being divorced or separated: George IV was separated when he became King and George I was divorced when he succeeded in 1714. The Marriage Act of 1753 did not apply to the Royal Family but the Royal Marriages Act of 1772 required them to marry legally with the monarch's consent. The monarchy has deliberately projected a modern, moral image to symbolise the British family in the 20th century.
