I'm a comedian. I don't do gags
Article Abstract:
Simply telling jokes is not particularly interesting, according to comedian Tommy Tiernan. He believes that story-telling is able to change things. He uses the stage to drive out personal frustrations, and invests a great deal of himself in his act. He feels that this makes him more attractive to audiences than comedians who simply tell a series of jokes about others. He is one of a growing number of comedians who focus on story-telling.

You had to laugh, really
Article Abstract:
South African satirist Pieter-Dirk Uys succeeded in being highly critical of apartheid through dressing up as a woman, Evita Bezuidenhout, who represented the worst of Afrikaaner values. He regards humour as a very effective weapon, as it allowed him to say things which otherwise would have not been acceptable. He has now had to change his act in order to take account of new developments in South Africa.
