'I'm gonna look back on this period and think, aw man, wasn't that a gas?' (folk-punk singer Ani diFranco)
Article Abstract:
Folk-punk singer Ani diFranco is glad that she decided not to accept an offer from a major recording company. She has been able to set up her own record label, and values the independence and control which this gives her. She toured the US for many years, performing in very small venues, and has only recently gained national recognition. Her independent approach has reaped benefits, as she was able to retain 50% of the profit from sales of 250,000 copies of her album 'Dilate' in the US.

Kylie - the remix
Article Abstract:
Pop singer Kylie Minogue admits to being very inquisitive. This trait in her personality is reflected in the many musical styles which are present on her latest album, which is to be released on Sep 22, 1997. She acknowledges that she has made mistakes both in her personal life and in her career, but feels that she is now becoming more able to assert herself and perform the kind of music with which she feels most comfortable. She also feels that she has been released from the pressure which was put on her by working at Stock, Aitken and Waterman.
