Invasion of the killer bees?
Article Abstract:
Experts in insect virology believe that the UK government should not give permission for several thousand worker bees to be imported from New Zealand. This is because almost all these bees are infected with Kashmir bee virus. This virus does not cause many problems in New Zealand, but could have a very negative impact on native British bees. Geoffrey Munro, who is seeking permission to import the bees from New Zealand, claims that a ban on imports of bees from New Zealand would be contrary to World Trade Organisation regulations.

The boys who behave dangerously
Article Abstract:
Homophobia is seen in a number of different forms in UK schools. In many cases, boys who differ in some way from the norm, especially if they form friendships with girls or dislike playing football, are at risk of being labelled 'gay.' Many teachers are aware of this problem, but few schools take direct action against homophobia. Indeed, well-meaning teachers may make the problem worse by stating that it is very bad to call somebody 'gay.'

A place where the bees behave and the sprats do somersaults
Article Abstract:
The coastal town of Ardmore, Ireland, seems far removed from the conflict afflicting Ireland and Northern Ireland. Local people are tough, but the town has a quiet, relaxed atmosphere. Visitors feel very close to nature, especially when the mackerel shoals arrive in late Aug, and there is a strong sense of history. Visitors to the town in summer can store up many happy memories to keep them going through the dull days of winter.
