POLAND: CORUS IN AGREEMENT OVER HUTA KATOWICE

Corus appeared on 3 September 2000 to have reached initial terms governing a takeover of the long products unit of Huta Katowice. The agreement is pending clearance by the Polish government and would see the Anglo-Dutch steel maker enter into a joint venture with Huta Katowice, the largest Polish state-owned steel mill.
