It would all come out in the wash

Article Abstract:

The Tate Gallery in London, England, is staging a retrospective of the work of French artist Pierre Bonnard. This gives a striking insight into Bonnard's 50-year relationship with Marthe de Meligny, whom he met in 1893 and married in 1925. The early works give an insight into the couple's active sex life, but there are no bedroom scenes after the early 1900s. The paintings should not be regarded as a confessional documentary. They show the internal drama of the relationship only obliquely, and a considerable amount must be read into them.

Hockney's Sunday best

Article Abstract:

The Annely Juda Gallery in London, England, is currently holding an exhibition entitled 'Flowers, Faces and Spaces' showing the work of David Hockney. There has been great public interest for a long time in Hockney's work, and the exhibition has been attracting many visitors. However, some observers also feel that Hockney is getting too much attention. The paintings on show at this exhibition are not of particularly high quality, and would not stand out at all in a more general exhibition.
