I've had the Oscars, show me London

Article Abstract:

Fashion design must be based on quality, according to fashion designer Richard Tyler. He has become extremely popular in the US, where many celebrities wear his designs. He is now seeking to establish a presence in the UK, and is to launch the Richard Tyler Collection line at Harvey Nichols. He came into contact with fashion design at an early age, as his mother made costumes for the local ballet and opera in Melbourne, Australia. He opened his first boutique at the age of 19, and later moved to the US, where he became Rod Stewart's costume designer.

The man who turned Madonna into a Goth

Article Abstract:

The monastic aesthetic is very attractive, according to fashion designer Nicolas Ghesquiere, whose clothes have obvious links with religion. He believes that this is why they appeal to Madonna, whose patronage has made him very well known. He became interested in fashion at an early age, and began his career in fashion at the age of 18 as a design assistant for Jean-Paul Gaultier. He has now been taken on by fashion house Balenciaga, and is beginning to revive the style of the house's founder.

Dreams are made of this

Article Abstract:

Haute couture embroiderer Francois Lesage admits that he has no talent for sewing, but instead designs two collections a year, made up of between 100 and 200 samples. He has worked with all the leading fashion designers, and has gained great respect for his creativity. His company has experienced some financial difficulties over recent years, however, and now only employs 55 people, from 100 in 1989. He is keen to perpetuate the art of embroidery, and has now opened his own school.
