J'accuse Malcolm Rifkind
Article Abstract:
Defence secretary Malcolm Rifkind should be very concerned by the way in which campaigners from Greenpeace have on several occasions been able to hamper the test launch of Trident missiles. He has already taken legal action to halt Greenpeace interference, the first time that a government minister has had to turn to the courts in order to obtain protection from Greenpeace volunteers armed with only the most basic equipment. This and other events are making the Trident missile a political embarrassment.

A toxic monument to a green future: Tony Blair must rethink plans for using PVC in the Millennium Dome
Article Abstract:
UK Prime Minister Tony Blair has paid no attention at all to the environmental concerns which have been expressed about the Millennium Dome planned for Greenwich, London, England. There is particular concern about the fact that this structure is to be coated with PVC, the manufacture and disposal of which creates dioxins. PVC is now being banned or phased out in many European cities and countries, and it is unthinkable that a forward-looking project on this scale should be associated with PVC.
