KENYA: HUNDREDS DIE FROM ILLEGAL ALCOHOL
Article Abstract:
At least 100 Kenyans have died and more than 400 have been severely injured after drinking an illegal home-made brew called "kill-me-quick". Kill-me-quick, also known as chang'aa, is laced with methanol, an alcohol normally used in car fuel, and despite being outlawed by the Kenyan government in 1998, remains popular amongst poor people because it has a powerful effect and is cheap to buy. One plastic mug's worth costs 10 shillings, less than a third of the price of legal beer. Victims suffering side effects often slip into comas, or writhe in pain after losing their sight.

Parents wage war against 'cyberbooze.' (concern about US teenagers ordering alcohol over Internet)
Article Abstract:
There is growing concern in the US that teenagers are able to order alcohol over the Internet. This has prompted the creation of an alliance named Americans for Responsible Alcohol Access (ARAA). Internet vendors claim that very few teenagers actually order alcohol. They also allege that ARAA is using the issue of under-age drinking to protect the interests of traditional wholesalers of alcohol and of states, which are responsible for alcohol licences and taxation.
