Lie back and dream of England

Article Abstract:

Rock group St Etienne never really had a big hit when it was performing and recording in the early 1990s, and was assumed to have faded forever in 1995. However, it is now returning to the music scene with an album entitled 'Good Humor.' This has a slightly melancholy atmosphere, but the music is also happy and relaxing. The members of the group - Pete Wiggs, Bob Stanley and Sarah Cracknell - still believe that pop music is fun, even though they experienced difficulties during the time St Etienne seemed to have vanished forever.

These girls just wanna have fun

Article Abstract:

Music group Kenickie, made up of bassist Emmy-Kate Montrose, songwriters Marie du Santiago and Lauren Laverne and drummer Johnny X, combine musical talent with humour. However, their songs are not widely known. This could change with the new single 'I Would Fix You,' which is based on the theme of taking punishment on behalf of others. The group now seems set to enter mainstream pop in the UK, but its members are prepared to disappear from the music scene if they encounter too much pressure.

Bringing it all back home

Article Abstract:

The first two albums by protest singer Phil Ochs, who committed suicide in 1976, are being reissued. These albums, 'All the News That's Fit to Sing' and 'I Ain't Marching Any More' now seem musically very primitive, but his best songs remain challenging.
