Life is like a box of chocolates

Article Abstract:

It is possible to walk long distances in the Austrian Alps, staying in huts, many of which are close to summits, in high alpine meadows or in passes. Networks of paths are well sign posted, but those undertaking the harder walks may wish to take a guide. Most huts are owned by the Austrian Alpine Club or the German Alpine Club, but some are privately run by families. They offer refreshments throughout the day, but prices tend to be quite high.

Our man in Berkhamsted

Article Abstract:

Writer Graham Greene was critical of Berkhamsted, England, where he was born. However, local people now seem to have forgiven him, and are now to erect a blue plaque at his family's former home in the town. Greene fans have also established the Graham Greene Birthplace Trust and are shortly to hold a festival in his honour. There is now a Greene walking tour of the town, based on the first volume of his autobiography, 'A Sort of Life.'

More than just a case of 'Bonjour Vietnam.' (Hoi An, Vietnam)(Weekend Review)

Article Abstract:

The ancient town of Hoi An, Vietnam, has considerable charm, bearing a strong resemblance to France. There is a strong sense of tranquility no longer found in most of Vietnam, and many visitors welcome the chance to escape from the noise and bustle of other destinations in Vietnam. The town is located equidistant between Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam, and Hanoi, Vietnam, and therefore attracts people who have visited these destinations too.
