Article Abstract:

Advances in medical technology have made it possible to determine with considerable accuracy during antenatal screening whether a child will be born with a severe disability. This has led to a sharp fall in the number of such children born over recent years, as many parents have opted for abortion instead. However, there are still cases where a severe disability has not been detected, and parents have attempted to take legal action against a hospital to obtain compensation. It is becoming very common to try to seek someone to blame for the birth of such a child, rather than simply accepting it as an accident of nature, as would have been the case in the past.

Is it wrong to use a dead body for art?

Article Abstract:

Some observers find it difficult to understand why there has been controversy about the use of dead bodies by sculptor Anthony-Noel Kelly, who has taken casts of dead human tissue. The use of dead bodies in art was very common in the past, and was not a cause for concern at all. Modern observers question Kelly's integrity and taste, but do not raise doubts about similar works of art which date from many years ago. Furthermore, nobody thinks to question the use of dead bodies in the medical field.
