Lost treasure of the Nazis' victims

Article Abstract:

Many Jews became very anxious about their financial security as Nazism became stronger in Germany, and began to smuggle funds to Switzerland, often depositing it in secret numbered accounts. In many cases, these Jews were later killed in concentration camps, and left no details about the accounts. Surviving relatives have been unable to gain access to the money, as they have had no official documents. However, the Association of Swiss Bankers has recently announced that it will open an office to help relatives of Nazi victims to look for lost accounts.

Violence born of Bibi's tunnel vision

Article Abstract:

Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu should have been fully aware that opening a second entrance to a 2,000-year-old water tunnel near the Temple Mount in Jerusalem would inevitably bring bitter clashes between Israelis and Palestinians. He did not seek advice from all his intelligence chiefs before making the decision to proceed with the scheme, but had been warned that the timing was very poor. It is now very unlikely that it will be possible to hold meaningful negotiations with the Palestinians.

Rabin pursues Likud voters in election run-up

Article Abstract:

Israeli Labour party Leader Yitzhak Rabin claims that he needs 100,000 votes to form a new coalition government on Jun 23, 1992. Proportional representation means that the government cannot be dominated by 1 party. Rabin is more popular than the Prime Minister Yitzhak Shamir. He is relying on votes from young voters who are disllusioned by the government and from the 250,000 Russian immigrants.
